Mentor Course
“I have done a Level 1 and 2 Mentor course here, but it didn’t teach me how to be a mentor. This course actually helped me not only to study but to be able to fully understand and enjoy study. Before I did this course, I was bored with study, but now I know the reasons why and that I can use this knowledge to help others to enjoy their studies. Thank you for helping me bring joy and hope to those I will now work with.
– P.W., HMP Garth
Parenting Skills Course
“From starting this Parenting Skills Course it has given me a better understanding on how a child’s mind works and how I can understand the child’s needs. A child needs to be loved and supported in its young life. I’m so pleased I did this course and will use the tools I have taken from the course when I get released. Thank you to all the Criminon staff.” – D.F., HMP Wymott

Also my work life too.” – E.R., HMP Risley
Learning How to Learn Course
“I believe I have benefitted from the course Learning How to Learn in many ways, such as the method it shows you when you get stuck or don’t understand a word. This has been the major point for me that I will carry the rest of my life. Thank you.” – J.N., HMP Dovegate

Understanding & Overcoming Addiction“I have benefited greatly from this course and given me a better understanding of various drugs, the effects and how to deal with addiction. For me I look at prison as a chance to put some knowledge and something positive in my brain. I became a drug mentor helping people before I knew about this course but appreciate the extra help this course has gave me. It also gave me a different sort of challenge while being bored in my prison cell. I have recommended Criminon courses to numerous people but it is up to them if they want to make that step as I can’t force people to do it but I always speak in a positive way about the course I’ve done. I am just waiting on a decision on my appeal then once I know how long I’ll be doing I’ll put myself down for another course. Thank you.” – A.J., HMP Lindholme

“This course has really allowed me to re-learn the skill of “learning how to learn”. I am somebody who has completed various courses since being in prison and this course has really set me up for the future goals I have of completing Open University. It has helped me how to learn a particular subject and taught me skills on how to understand words and topics when I see them as barriers to studying. I am sure due to learning these skills I will be able to go and achieve my goals of completing my Open University degree in the near future.”
A.H., HMP Swaleside (Learning How to Learn)
“This course has helped me by teaching me how drug addictions work and how to get help with battling these diseases. I used to think that I would/could never change my life and I do know for sure that it can be done. I just need to believe in myself and have the time, willpower and energy to do it. It has been done and I am truly grateful. Thank you.”
R.T., HMP Erlestoke (Understanding & Overcoming Addiction)
“Withdrawing from drugs is horrendous. Sometimes you cannot come off drugs by sheer will-power alone, you need that bit of extra to help you out of past experiences of pain and suffering, and drive to fight against those Mental Image Pictures that come back to haunt you. When you are stuck in a life of taking drugs, you feel that there is no other alternative way of life, that there’s nothing good to come out of it if you stopped taking them that the pain that once was or the psychosomatics will be with you until the end. This course helped me gain a cognition about life and realize what the drugs have robbed me of the joy and pleasures in life. It helped me understand how drugs affect me and the effects of them against me and the people around me. With the help of the exercises and the information on the vitamins and minerals (drug-bomb) that help fight against withdrawal symptoms, I was able to use this to my advantage and find the correct “properly ordered schedule” to eventually becoming drug-free. It also helped me to live in present time, gain a new realization about life and begin to look forward to a life without drugs. Thank you.”

“I’ve often had difficulty self-teaching as I’ve just not been able to get certain key parts to sink in. My technique would be to read the piece in its entirety again, usually to no avail. I can’t wait to try the methods I’ve learned while doing this course which once you’ve learned them seem glaringly obvious. I’ve never done a distance learning course and this was a fantastic example to start on. There was very little down time between lessons due to the efficiency of those in charge. Even when the entire world was plunged into the biggest disruption in my lifetime the feedback was delivered positively which kept me enthusiastic. I’m very pleased to have taken the course and look forward to using what I have learned.”

“The aim of this essay is to examine the benefits derived from participating in the course. These benefits are immeasurable and invaluable. It is certainly true that taking time to acquire knowledge that this course presents prepares one for the opportunity life brings and to look forward to the future with hope. In the same way, the concepts and precepts given in the course have laid the foundation for survival and provides the indomitable courage to boost confidence and self-esteem, regain self-respect and personal pride. It is often said that in life attitude is everything and everything is attitude. We can alter our lives by altering our attitude of mind. Besides, we do not determine our future, we determine our habits and our habits determine our future. This course offered the platform to maintain a right attitude for life. What is more, the lessons are written with such intense, gripping, power and intelligence that is tremendously satisfying and appealing. It can be concluded that this course is the antidote to the lethal problems of dishonesty, immorality and misconduct in the society. “
